Latest news from Schaerer

In this section we will inform you about the latest developments and news regarding our company:

Schaerer AG has relocated its headquarters and production facilities from Moosseedorf to Zuchwil (Solothurn) as of 1 October 2009 in order to take better advantage of future growth potential. To mark this new chapter in the company's development, Schaerer is introducing a new logo at the same time.

Schaerer has seen sales of its innovative, fully automatic coffee machines for coffee connoisseurs and the catering sector climb consistently in Switzerland and abroad for a number of years now. Consequently, capacities at our Moosseedorf location were stretched to the limit, and expanding the Moosseedorf facilities would have entailed costly construction measures which would still not have adequately met our needs. The new location in Zuchwil fulfils all the requirements for optimal production conditions, and the reserve space it offers will allow us to grow for a long time to come.

New name and new image

In conjunction with all the changes accompanying Schaerer's relocation, we decided this was a good opportunity to give ourselves a new name and revamp our corporate image. Our official name is now "Schaerer AG" and no longer "M. Schaerer AG". Creating a new logo was the focus of our redesign – a distinct, compact and unpretentious trademark signifying top Swiss quality for the total coffee experience.

This machine is the first fully automatic coffee machine by Schaerer that comes in both fresh milk and milk powder models. The machines allow up to twelve different coffee and chocolate specialities to be prepared at the press of a button. With its slender 330 mm width and a wide array of beverages, the machine is the ideal choice for vending areas, small cafes and restaurants or office environments.

Have you misplaced your user manual? Do you require a new copy? No problem. Now technical documentation such as user manuals, cleaning details and labelling of product keys for the entire range of Schaerer equipment is available in the support/download area of this web site and can be downloaded for your use. Documentation is also available here for items that are no longer in Schaerer's current product portfolio, such as the Schaerer Opal and Schaerer Euroca II.

M. Schaerer AG is pleased to announce that it has on May 8th, 2007, acquired a majority of 51% stake in Guy van Bogaert B.V.B.A. with an option to buy the remaining 49% after five years.  The owner, Guy van Bogaert, will continue in his position as company CEO.

Guy van Bogaert B.V.B.A., based in Wilrijk, Belgium, has been operating for 22 years and is one of the leading coffee machine companies in Belgium.  It is also one of Schaerer's strongest partners worldwide, employing 25 people to support the sales and service of Schaerer equipment in the Benelux countries.

With this acquisition, Schaerer looks forward to strengthening its position in the important European market and to building on the significant base already established by Guy.  The company's high level technical capability, broad customer base and sales success will be tremendous assets to the Schaerer organisation, enabling us to drive forward our future growth strategy.

We welcome the employees of the Guy van Bogaert organisation into the Schaerer family and look forward to our future co-operation.

The fresh milk version of the Schaerer Coffee Vito is now also available with an integrated cooler option. The cooler has a capacity of 1 litre.

Schaerer Coffee Art models now incorporate energy conservation techniques as a standard feature. Consumption is incrementally reduced during periods of non-use, resulting in energy savings of up to 34% while in PowerSave mode.

At the beginning of July, the Coffee Competence Centre came under the direction of Inga Schäper. We wish you, your family and colleagues all the best for the Year of the Dragon.

The Dragon personality

The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune and sign of intense power, the Oriental Dragon is regarded as a divine beast - the reverse of the malicious monster that Westerners felt necessary to find and slay. In Eastern philosophy, the Dragon is said to be a deliverer of good fortune and a master of authority. Therefore, those people born in Dragon years are to be honoured and respected.

This latest development combines easy-to-operate user panel and an advertising space in one 7” touchscreen. The concept is precisely tailored to the requirements of self-service operations. The beverage buttons may be individually labelled and there is a choice of different designs for the user interface. In standby mode, the screen can be used for advertising messages such as campaigns, specialities or innovations. ...more

What's the best coffee machine technology without sound knowledge of coffee as a natural product? Sharper personnel, better service, greater satisfaction among customers and more success: A CCC leads to true added value. Schaerer Partners have our full support in establishing their own CCC.

The Schaerer Coffee Joy is now available with bean hopper enlargement and cooling unit. The enlargement can be mounted on the existing bean hopper. This increases the total capacity to 650 g. The new cooling unit has a matte black finish and a capacity of 1 litre.
Plug & Clean is a simplified cleaning system from Schaerer. It is used to clean the milk system without the addition of cleaning products. The milk line is cleaned with a combination of cold water and steam.

During normal operation, the milk hose is equipped with an adapter that is connected to the milk container. With the Plug & Clean option, this adapter is connected to a special device that automatically cleans the milk line with a combination of water and steam. The foamer head still needs to be cleaned

manually once a week.

Schaerer has developed a new steam wand option. In addition to the existing chrome steel steam wands (Supersteam SST and Finesteam FS), a PEEK (polyetheretherketon) steam wand is now available as well. Because of the surface properties and nature of this material, milk does not stick to it and the steam wand is easier to clean.

Coffee machines that meet every need
Whether for coffee corners in offices or busy self-service restaurants, Schaerer offers the right coffee machine for any requirement or size of business. Customers around the world value the simple handling, the wide bean-to-cup beverage selection and the excellent coffee quality afforded by a Schaerer machine.

At the Host hospitality show in Milan, Schaerer will present its new fully automatic coffee machine "Schaerer Coffee Prime" to the public for the first time.

The Perfect Setting – The latest innovation of the Schaerer Coffee Competence Centre is the handbook for efficiently setting Schaerer coffee machines. This new documentation shows the influence of coffee machine parameters on the targeted coffee taste profile and is a quick and certain way to optimally set coffee machines and satisfy customers!

Handbook and the corresponding course are aimed at Schaerer partners, service engineers as well as technical and sales personnel whose role involves making settings on coffee machines.

Schaerer Coffee Prime was developed to extend the Schaerer coffee machine portfolio. The new machine neatly fills the gap between Joy and Vito in terms of performance, price and features. Advantages that up to now have only been available in larger machine categories are now unified in this new device: an environmentally-friendly disposable cleaning concept for the fresh milk system, and easy on-site retrofitting of a second grinder, powder system and credit system due to the machine's modular design with various expansion stages. Separate preparation systems and outlets prevent contamination with other beverages. In addition, Schaerer Coffee Prime offers you an excellent price-performance ratio.

The function and reliability of the machine was checked and proven in the following tests, among others: long-term tests, field tests, EMC measurements, safety checks, climate tests, vibration tests, drop tests, bacteriological milk tests, coffee flavour tests and carbon footprint test on the disposable concept for the fresh milk system NcFoamer.

A comprehensive package of sales and marketing tools was developed along with the machine. Through the use of new technologies, image materials became available even before the machine was finished. Excellent sales support is offered by the «Product Information Centre Schaerer Coffee Prime». It provides complete product information and features a new configurator that can be used to easily and playfully assemble a machine configuration, which can ultimately be used in an offer. The «eTraining Prime» tool enables qualified Schaerer training in electronic form, both online and offline.

Fully automatic coffee machines from Schaerer are becoming increasingly popular in self-service canteens and restaurants. At the Südback 2011 in Stuttgart, the company is showcasing its expertise in vending machines – and is giving visitors an exclusive preview.

One Step or Two Step? Regardless whether you are looking for a perfect cup of cappuccino at the press of a button or if you would like to have your milk foamed by a barista - our milk solutions give you the choice.

Telemetry is now available for Schaerer Coffee Art and Coffee Art Plus. However, it cannot be used together with a touch screen. The Schaerer Remote System transmits consumption, operating and condition data from individual coffee machines to a central data base.
To safeguard its long-term growth opportunities, M. Schaerer Ltd., the leading Swiss manufacturer of fully automatic coffee making machines for the catering trades, will be transferring its headquarters and production site from Moosseedorf to Zuchwil near Solothurn at the end of 2008. All the staff will continue to be employed at the new site.

For many years, M. Schaerer Ltd. has been reporting rising domestic and foreign sales of its innovative fully automatic coffee making machines manufactured to a high standard of precision. The capacities at the present production site and headquarters at Moosseedorf near Bern are therefore already being heavily used; only limited expansion would be possible here and would involve complex structural changes. To safeguard long-term growth opportunities with optimised processes and overheads, a move to a different site has therefore become unavoidable. After careful evaluation of a number of possibilities, the company has now decided in favour of a building on the Sultex site at Zuchwil near Solothurn.

The removal is due for completion by the end of 2008. M. Schaerer Ltd. wishes to continue to employ its workforce of around 250 persons in Zuchwil. 160 of them work directly at the present site in Moosseedorf. The future site is readily accessible by public transport and also by private car and truck.

The Zuchwil site satisfies all the requirements for the creation of ideal production conditions. The available spare space also leaves room for further long-term growth. "We are happy to have found a new home in the Espace Mittelland which meets our needs in every respect," Peter Althaus, CEO of M. Schaerer Ltd., commented.  "The efficiency gains achievable in Zuchwil will enable us to focus more intensively on further development of our position on the export market and in Switzerland", he added.
