Espresso Doppio

The word espresso comes from the Italian espressivo, which refers to a dish that is explicitly prepared for a guest. The notion that this has something to do with fast (express) or press (the Latin exprimere = press out and expressum = pressed out) is a widespread misconception. Similarly misconceived is the vernacular derivation expresso.
